In 2006, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism launched the "Sewer Quick Project." The use of factory-made ultra-small-scale treatment facilities, one of its methods, has begun in the Tokiwa-no processing area in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture.
